My Darling Wears White

Usually my day used to start with a cup of tea and a broad smile on face. But now the scene is a little different as some some changes got included into the regular schedule. While previously I was only meant to be reading books, eating, writing, eating, studying, eating and sleeping, the present scenario has a drastic change in it which I never wanted. [Exactly. Never!] Now my current schedule includes a long wait, random mood swings, eating, reading, writing, working, eating and staying awake like an owl. So the happily insomniac turned into an impatient soul who waits for hours to get a call and ends up being grumpier. But that grumpiness disappears the moment I fall asleep.  So, that was just another day which arrived in the shiniest attire to wake up the world with a blissful sunrise. My last night's wait finally ended with the sunrise when I fell asleep. The alarm clock was about to kick me out of my bed and tada! It started ringing. Now I have this serious question;...

Temple Saga & Cab Wale Bhaiya

Once upon a time, in a fine morning, I was out with my prince charming on a voyage... Hold on. Let me rephrase it. In the month of August, when the sky tends to shower more and shine less, the day decides to be different and instead of the light drizzle, it began with the scorching heat of the ever burning sun. I was supposed to meet him around around 1000 hours which, due to my extreme laziness, got delayed and I reached the metro station exactly one hour late. To describe him I will just use one word, 'Calm'. Hence, whether I reach early or late his reaction never changes and that day also he didn't mind me being late. His plan for that day was to visit few temples which were like poles apart in distance. But we decided to make it work. Our first destination was Kalighat Temple which was still nearby from the place where we met. Before talking about anythings else let me just brief you all about this temple. Kalighat Temple is in Kolkata and one of the must...

Lunch at Officers’ Mess

A Civilian’s Dilemma! Subha ka nashta room pe karenge! Dopeher ka khana Mess me khayenge! Madam ki shopping CSD me karenge! “Koyi Shaq?” “No Sir!” my josh-type reply came hearing his full day plan. With the almighty being graceful, my man was in town and I had all the reasons to be super happy. It was the month of May and with that came the soul wrenching heat. I hate summer, but more than me there’s someone who hate this season to the core. With back to back cancellation of leave I had almost given up on destiny and was completely hopeless about our much awaited meeting. But these men in uniform tend to surprise you at the moments when you least expect that. His CO finally decided to show some mercy on him and the day before his sailing was about to start, his leave was granted which was in no way expected. Okay! So my man is in Indian Navy, ruling the ocean and my heart at the same time. I have clearly no idea of why and what things take such turn whenever h...

Winter Chronicles

It was the beginning of winter. The air was welcoming the chilly fragrance to prevail. The festive mood was all over and it was time to settle down to respective works. Certain things were still bearing the essence of ever-blooming summer. Our newly budded relation was among them. Curtains were still off as hesitation kept chanting around. Confession was supplanted by few tokens of anecdotes. Muses played their parts well. Rain seemed prettier, sun seemed brighter, night seemed soother. Burdens of sighs got lightened as the quilt of secrecy went down. Deep, ecstatic feeling got the tag of love, as words surrendered the conditions of heart. Love presented the warmest winter of that era.

The Last Day

"It was a Sunday and I was the OOD there in my ship. As such there's no holiday in armed forces, Navy was no different and we love it that way. The ongoing works were as per the schedule and plans and I thought of sitting down a bit for few moments. One sip from the cup of bliss (tea) and the phone started ringing.  "Some guests are here." The call was to ensure their entry and the visitors were a senior officer and his family;  wife and daughter. In no way my answer could have been no. I positively asked him to let them come.  I had no idea about the additional things that were about to be added in my heart for the rest of my life. I took a round of the ship and after ensuring few things I went on to see the guests on board. I was the gunnery officer of that ship then. As soon as I went there to have a look on that beauty my eyes were set on the shining face of the senior officer. I saluted him with my introduction and asked them to come inside to have so...

Shoe Story

It was a bright sunny day with no trace of black clouds and rain. Hence, according to my aunty, a perfect day for shopping. A Sunday morning which was supposed to be spent in the cozy bed, was by then decided to be wasted on crowded shopping malls, adding to my headache. It wasn't that I don't like shopping. I was simply not prepared to wake up early as last night was spent on finishing a whole web series. [Poor me!] But then who cares. I dropped a message on his number mentioning, 'Going for shopping with Uncle and Aunty' and got fully equipped to win the battle of snatching away the best thing from the stores. As he's in his course so Sunday was a 'Will wake up late' day for which I don't even think of giving a call early morning. To my surprise he replied me saying, "Shopping? Good. Wake me up at 1300 hours. I need to get a hair cut and then will go out for lunch with them." "Okay!" I texted back. To which he corrected, "...
