My Darling Wears White

Usually my day used to start with a cup of tea and a broad smile on face. But now the scene is a little different as some some changes got included into the regular schedule. While previously I was only meant to be reading books, eating, writing, eating, studying, eating and sleeping, the present scenario has a drastic change in it which I never wanted. [Exactly. Never!]

Now my current schedule includes a long wait, random mood swings, eating, reading, writing, working, eating and staying awake like an owl. So the happily insomniac turned into an impatient soul who waits for hours to get a call and ends up being grumpier. But that grumpiness disappears the moment I fall asleep.

So, that was just another day which arrived in the shiniest attire to wake up the world with a blissful sunrise. My last night's wait finally ended with the sunrise when I fell asleep. The alarm clock was about to kick me out of my bed and tada! It started ringing. Now I have this serious question; what made the alarm sound so loud? I mean on usual times I can't even hear my phone ringing while it's just beside me and during the morning it suddenly gets hell more powerful to screw someone's life.

With my one eye opened, I grabbed my phone and whatever appeared on screen, I clicked on the red button to shut the stupid alarm off and happily went back to snoring. It started ringing again. "Ain't it too quick? It should ring again at least after 10 minutes," I thought and checked my phone again. It was a call this time and I happily picked it up.

"Good Morning," the not so lovely voice came. [Nope! His voice is not lovely and mine is horrible.]
"Yeah whatever!," I was angry but why I simply forgot. The thing about being angry is that you don't need any reason; just don't behave normally and you're all annoyed.
"I came in the morning and now leaving again," he said at one go.
"Tata," my obvious reply popped up.
"Come on video call, it's been long since I have seen you," he tried to be a bit romantic which he is not. His attempt to sound romantic failed as I said 'No! I'm sleeping.'
"We are going for a grand thrashing. Boss called up! Don't throw tantrums and answer the call, bye!" he said at one go and disconnected the call.

So the morning started with a command from the CO of the ship and I was left with no option; to be honest even I wanted to see him. But that cannot be displayed right away. Ain't that so?
His name flashed on the screen with the front camera capturing a horrible face. 'Oh wait, that's my face!' I suddenly realized. 'Who cares? He should know that I look ugly in the morning," I giggled and picked up his call.

With my swollen eyes all I could see was bright white.
"Why are you moving? I can't see you," I tried to figure him out.
"Hold on, I am wearing my shoes," he replied.

After a minute or so when he finally appeared right infront of me, my sleep disappeared, anger vanished and eyes sparkled seeing him there. It was around two months since we have seen each other [Yes! you read it right. Two months and we didn't even see each other despite having smart phones and proper internet connection. Because he doesn't like all these video chats and stuffs.]

A tall, dark, handsome guy was sitting right there while a bright white uniform was adorning his body and adding to his charm. It was the first time when I have seen him in his uniform and I was spellbound. There's this aura of the uniform which makes everything dull except the person wearing it. I kept smiling and admiring him for next few moments and he kept asking, "What happened?"

"You look different, ain't you?" I asked.
"That's all you have to say right now?" he was a bit disappointed, probably.
"No! I mean this looks amazing," I added and he proudly said, "Thanks! I know I am."
"I am talking about this uniform. Not you!" I corrected him.
"It's not a uniform, it's my identity," as he caressed his uniform, I met a proud warrior that day.

I always heard and read about pride, that day I saw it in his eyes. That pride was quite lot different, not that you usually come across. Uniforms never amazed me that much ever before. I always kept his profession away from us as I fell for the man behind the uniform. But, what cannot simply change is the one fact that 'My darling wears white!' and rules the ruthless ocean with his head held high.

The Winds That No More Hums The Happy Tale!

Things went magically insane the very moment someone's presence rejuvenated life back into the dead city of mine. A gush of wind passed by in the wind hushing some symphony of belongingness. I stood still for a while in amusement looking at the way things were around, all of a sudden. The sick old tree beside the lake had tiny green leaves peeping out from the lifeless branch. The heart sighed after a long; the change was for good. It was almost evening and the dark didn't scare me. The lonely cuckoo was duetting with some other bird which I failed to recognize. My world was getting dipped into the leftover of the sunset, all magical and bright.  Almost a month passed since that day. Today, the wind reminded me of that time when he arrived with hands full of amusement, restlessness, sparkles and magic. The wind is crisp and soothing, despite all the heated situations in between. May be it's not the city, may be it's not the wind nor even those golden hues. May be it is ...

Lunch at Officers’ Mess

A Civilian’s Dilemma! Subha ka nashta room pe karenge! Dopeher ka khana Mess me khayenge! Madam ki shopping CSD me karenge! “Koyi Shaq?” “No Sir!” my josh-type reply came hearing his full day plan. With the almighty being graceful, my man was in town and I had all the reasons to be super happy. It was the month of May and with that came the soul wrenching heat. I hate summer, but more than me there’s someone who hate this season to the core. With back to back cancellation of leave I had almost given up on destiny and was completely hopeless about our much awaited meeting. But these men in uniform tend to surprise you at the moments when you least expect that. His CO finally decided to show some mercy on him and the day before his sailing was about to start, his leave was granted which was in no way expected. Okay! So my man is in Indian Navy, ruling the ocean and my heart at the same time. I have clearly no idea of why and what things take such turn whenever h...

A Hibiscus for You Ma'am!

Believe me when I say that being in love is more than feeling butterflies in tummy, witnessing romantic sunset and walking hand-in-hand. When you are in love, the whole world suddenly feels upside down! My love story, as I always say, is not about the mushy stuffs but like a Tonga-ride; exciting, fancy yet dangerous (Only if you don't know how to ride it).  Rather than stating how much we love each other, we always preferred saying how much we missed each other. Instead of making the other one blush, we laughed our heart out with silly remarks. Romantic dates were always supplanted by 'Let's have Pizza today!' plans. Above all, not to forget our first ever attempt for a date. While one would precisely choose some garden, cafe, park, restaurant, beach or anything on earth, my darling chose Temples! Exactly, you read it right. As I have shared with you earlier on 'Temple Saga'. Well, I can't fully blame him as I am equally hopeless when it comes to execut...
