Believe me when I say that being in love is more than feeling butterflies in tummy, witnessing romantic sunset and walking hand-in-hand. When you are in love, the whole world suddenly feels upside down! My love story, as I always say, is not about the mushy stuffs but like a Tonga-ride; exciting, fancy yet dangerous (Only if you don't know how to ride it).
Rather than stating how much we love each other, we always preferred saying how much we missed each other. Instead of making the other one blush, we laughed our heart out with silly remarks. Romantic dates were always supplanted by 'Let's have Pizza today!' plans. Above all, not to forget our first ever attempt for a date.
While one would precisely choose some garden, cafe, park, restaurant, beach or anything on earth, my darling chose Temples! Exactly, you read it right. As I have shared with you earlier on 'Temple Saga'. Well, I can't fully blame him as I am equally hopeless when it comes to execute something really, hopelessly romantic. I mean how? How can I make things look angelic when they are certainly not. Do I look like a magic spelling machine or probably a witch? (May be at times but not in reality)
Our date started without a 'Hello! Beautiful' and 'Roses for the pretty lady' stuff and I was fully okay with that. With essential stuff needed for 'puja rituals' we entered the temple and it was no less than winning a World Cup as there were almost hundred competitors waiting behind. But who cares? Passing through the huge crowd we stood in the line of mini crowd (As if some never ending loop). A great man once said, 'When nobody is entertaining you, be your own entertainment!' I am a great fan of that person.
To kill the time I started looking here and there and Eureka! I found a couple standing beside us with roses in their hands. Without wasting a second I turned towards him asking, "Where's my rose?"
"What rose?" he questioned back in utter surprise as if it's the first time he's hearing about rose.
"Rose! Flower! You see that comes in different colours and smells good. And see the rose velvet cake!" like always I started blabbering.
Cutting my words in between he said, "Eh! One second! That's not rose velvet cake, that's red velvet and I understood what's a rose."
"Oops! Same thing. So where's the rose? It's our first date right?"
"But our first date was yesterday. No?" he was trying hard to understand things.
With a stern look I glued my eyes on his and said, "Don't you think you should have come with a rose?" and winked.
All puzzled yet quick! That's how his mind works. 'That's cliched. Ain't that?" and he winked back.
"Yeah but still, you forgot right?" I teased.
"I didn't get any! Your city is such a mess!"
Without even waiting for a reply he quickly picked a hibiscus from the 'puja essentials' and said, "A Hibiscus for you, Ma'am!"
"A... Whaaaaaat? A hibiscus?"
As we went to a Kali Temple, hibiscus was a must to worship the deity. And guess what? He had chosen to be sinner than a disappointment. "What can be more special than God's grace?"
"Wait, God hasn't given it to me! You are stealing it. Such an evil you are!"
"I will say sorry, don't worry!" he was trying hard to convince me.
And at last I had to melt seeing his efforts and the mighty Hibiscus (Bhagwan ka ashirwaad)!
Who says only red roses depict love? In my story, that Hibiscus was the first token of love from my man! No matter how many special days we celebrate and how many memories we create, those little things will always remain our favourite.
