Sunset

Ever since I have started writing, moonlit night has always been the muse behind my scribbles. Though there are plenty of descriptions on sunset and beaches, it somehow never fascinated me. I was always a moon kinda person who would simply fall in love with that lifeless piece up in the sky and ditched every breathtaking view for that placid glimpse.

I have spent the coldest of winter nights keeping the windowpanes wide open, looking blankly at the moon, with a hope that someday it will find its way back me. That never happened, neither did I stop waiting for it. It kept travelling with me my entire childhood and still peeps into my mind whenever I look at the sky, exhausted and hopeless, to console me. I found solace in dark.

It was the beginning of winter when the world seemed the prettiest of all. The gentle touch of sunbeam melts in air and soothes your soul. The best part about cantonment area is the lush green which you might miss in civilization. This place was something anyone would crave for. He was staying at a place which was right on the bank of the river and I was madly in love with the view which made me cancel all our plan for the day and we stayed back to enjoy some alone time.

When the day was tilting its head for the arrival of dark I quickly came outside to click a picture of the melting sky. But I was awestruck with the view. To add a bit more spark to it he came with a cup of coffee for me and a cup of tea for himself. My eyes were glued to that view for the first time. I was amazed by the mighty Sun!

Across the horizon there was a thin layer of gold following which there were few lighter and brighter shades of yellow and red. The whole sky became the canvas where, at the time, you can paint your world of words. His presence made the view more enchanting.

As I took a sip from my cup, I felt someone's eyes stuck on my face. I turned towards him, he was already looking at me and smiling. Holding hands we sat there for another few minutes while the setting sun made our faces shine brighter with the melting beams. We were shinning with all our hopes and dreams, love in heart and faith on each other. I realized how an everyday moment can suddenly turn out to be exceptional with just one person beside you. That sunset scratched a never-fading mark on my mind. Though I still wonder what actually spelled the magic, the sunset or the one with whom I witnessed it.

The moment might not be recreated again but the essence of togetherness at that particular moment will forever linger in my mind as the setting sun never attracted me that way ever before.

The Winds That No More Hums The Happy Tale!

Things went magically insane the very moment someone's presence rejuvenated life back into the dead city of mine. A gush of wind passed by in the wind hushing some symphony of belongingness. I stood still for a while in amusement looking at the way things were around, all of a sudden. The sick old tree beside the lake had tiny green leaves peeping out from the lifeless branch. The heart sighed after a long; the change was for good. It was almost evening and the dark didn't scare me. The lonely cuckoo was duetting with some other bird which I failed to recognize. My world was getting dipped into the leftover of the sunset, all magical and bright.  Almost a month passed since that day. Today, the wind reminded me of that time when he arrived with hands full of amusement, restlessness, sparkles and magic. The wind is crisp and soothing, despite all the heated situations in between. May be it's not the city, may be it's not the wind nor even those golden hues. May be it is ...

Lunch at Officers’ Mess

A Civilian’s Dilemma! Subha ka nashta room pe karenge! Dopeher ka khana Mess me khayenge! Madam ki shopping CSD me karenge! “Koyi Shaq?” “No Sir!” my josh-type reply came hearing his full day plan. With the almighty being graceful, my man was in town and I had all the reasons to be super happy. It was the month of May and with that came the soul wrenching heat. I hate summer, but more than me there’s someone who hate this season to the core. With back to back cancellation of leave I had almost given up on destiny and was completely hopeless about our much awaited meeting. But these men in uniform tend to surprise you at the moments when you least expect that. His CO finally decided to show some mercy on him and the day before his sailing was about to start, his leave was granted which was in no way expected. Okay! So my man is in Indian Navy, ruling the ocean and my heart at the same time. I have clearly no idea of why and what things take such turn whenever h...

A Hibiscus for You Ma'am!

Believe me when I say that being in love is more than feeling butterflies in tummy, witnessing romantic sunset and walking hand-in-hand. When you are in love, the whole world suddenly feels upside down! My love story, as I always say, is not about the mushy stuffs but like a Tonga-ride; exciting, fancy yet dangerous (Only if you don't know how to ride it).  Rather than stating how much we love each other, we always preferred saying how much we missed each other. Instead of making the other one blush, we laughed our heart out with silly remarks. Romantic dates were always supplanted by 'Let's have Pizza today!' plans. Above all, not to forget our first ever attempt for a date. While one would precisely choose some garden, cafe, park, restaurant, beach or anything on earth, my darling chose Temples! Exactly, you read it right. As I have shared with you earlier on 'Temple Saga'. Well, I can't fully blame him as I am equally hopeless when it comes to execut...
